The Arima Monica ELDY is a four-door hardtop sedan named after its car, the Monica, and was so popular among young people that it sparked a trend of four-door hardtop cars in Japan at the time due to its elegant styling and excellent performance.
However, as the direction of car consumption in Japan changed towards livability, stability and practicality, its popularity gradually declined and it was eventually discontinued in 1998, ending the history of the Monica ELDY.
