The Arima Monica ELDY is a four-door hardtop sedan named after their Monica car and was so popular with young people that it sparked a four-door hardtop trend in Japan at the time due to its elegant styling and great performance.
However, as the direction of car consumption in Japan shifted towards livability, stability and practicality, its popularity gradually declined and it was eventually discontinued in 1998, ending the Monica ELDY story.
